Job Summary

The federal work study (FWS) student will work with the Communications department as part of the Communications Student Media Team. This person will help promote the college by filming and editing for traditional and social media channels. This is an office-based position, reporting to the executive director of Public Relations and the Director of Digital Communications.

Responsibilities

  • Attend weekly meetings.
  • Film assigned events on campus.
  • Identify stories and contact/interview subject matter experts (SMEs) for videos.
  • Edit videos according to established standards.
  • Submit video drafts on or before deadline.
  • Other duties as directed.

Required Qualifications

  • Must have a Federal Work Study award.
  • Must be currently enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours at Georgia Gwinnett College.
  • Must be in good academic standing and maintain good standing for the duration of employment.
  • Must be in good conduct standing with Georgia Gwinnett College and maintain good conduct for the duration of employment.
  • Must be able to handle confidential information.
  • Knowledge of social media apps such as Instagram and TikTok.
  • Enthusiasm for the video production process.
  • Punctuality.
  • Understand the importance of deadlines and adhere to them.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to try new things.
  • Strong time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple assignments at the same time.
  • A team player attitude.
  • Professionalism.
  • Initiative.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in filming video with a cell phone.
  • Involvement in campus organizations.
  • Familiarity with Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro and Photoshop.
