The Rochester Knighthawks are seeking a Communications and Lacrosse Operations Coordinator/Videographer in Rochester, NY. The role supports the team’s public relations, media outreach, and digital content efforts while assisting in the day-to-day operations of the lacrosse program. This position serves as a key link between the communications department, lacrosse operations staff, players, coaches, and external partners, ensuring that all public-facing and operational initiatives are executed with professionalism, accuracy, and timeliness.

Responsibilities

  • Communications & Media Relations: Assist in developing and executing strategic communications plans to promote the team and its initiatives. Write, edit, and distribute press releases, media advisories, game notes, and feature stories. Coordinate media requests, interviews, and press conferences for players, coaches, and executives. Manage game day media operations, including press box setup, credentialing, and post-game media availability. Maintain relationships with local, regional, and national media outlets to increase coverage. Contribute to website updates, social media content creation, and multimedia storytelling. Assist in the coordination of player travel, accommodations, and logistics for games, practices, and community events. Coordinate with equipment staff on inventory tracking and distribution.
  • Event & Community Engagement: Support the execution of community relations programs, youth lacrosse initiatives, and promotional appearances. Coordinate player and staff participation in community events, clinics, and charitable programs. Serve as a representative of the organization at team and league events. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations & Communications.
  • Video & Content Creation: Film and edit video content for social media, website, in-game presentation, and external distribution. Produce short-form and long-form video projects highlighting players, coaches, community initiatives, and partners. Manage footage from practices, games, and community events. Assist with video board production during home games, including highlights, hype videos, and sponsor features.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Sports Management, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in sports communications, operations, or related roles (professional or collegiate athletics preferred).
  • 1-3 years of experience filming and editing video content.
  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills with attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of lacrosse and its culture, rules, and operations preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Cloud, and social media platforms.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and travel as required by the team schedule.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities in fast-paced environments.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Creative mindset with the ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances.
  • Team-oriented approach with a willingness to assist in multiple areas.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary is based on a variety of factors, including location, experience, skill set, performance, licensure and certification, and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $50,000 - $60,000 USD. Our team offers a balanced mix of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, voluntary programs, health savings and flexible spending accounts, and retirement. Full-time employees working at least 30 hours per week are eligible for benefits and paid leave programs.
