Overview
Assistant Professor in Integrated Strategic Communication – Augusta University, Summerville Campus. This tenure-track position is anticipated to begin August 1, 2026.
Department: Communication. The candidate will typically teach in Health Communication, Campaigns, Social Media, and COMM 1110 (public speaking). The department seeks a candidate with a robust research record who will contribute to department and college service, and work effectively with colleagues and students.
Responsibilities
- Teach assigned courses in Health Communication, Campaigns, Social Media, and COMM 1110 (public speaking).
- Maintain a robust record of research and conduct peer-reviewed research.
- Provide service for the department, college, and university.
Required Qualifications
PhD in communication, mass communication, communication studies, or media studies, or a closely related discipline.
- Assistant Professor – Early level career as a faculty member.
- Employment qualifications for all USG institutions and academic ranks include: alignment with SACSCOC accreditation requirements; evidence of teaching ability; evidence of scholarly activity and ability in other duties; successful experience (waived for those just entering the profession if other requirements are met); desirable personal qualities assessed via interview, biographical data, and recommendations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of and ability to teach media analytics.
- Expertise in research methods.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Academic year position, typically August through May, with full-time equivalent (FTE) of 1.0. Salary and compensation are commensurate with education, experience, and achievements and are subject to funds availability.

The Department of Communication at Augusta University prepares students for today’s changing workplace with transferable skills demanded by employers. Programs include communication studies, journalism, public relations, and audio/video production. Facilities include a video production lab, student newspaper and magazine, student television newscast, student-produced podcasts, a scholarly journal, and student organizations such as the Media Club and the Society of Professional Journalists.
The Department is housed in the Pamplin College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, which includes seven departments, over 1,300 majors, and multiple programs and institutes that support faculty research and development.
