Department Information

Within this setting is the multi-disciplinary School of Human Ecology, an applied research and creative activity unit serving over 700 undergraduate majors. The school offers programs in Fashion Merchandising and Apparel Design, Human Development and Family Science, Interior Design, and Recreation and Tourism Management. The Fashion Merchandising and Apparel Design Program offers courses in various modalities (face to face, hybrid, online) as well as a minor. The program has dedicated faculty who mentor students and engage in undergraduate research. We invite applications from candidates in the merchandising and design areas.

Job Summary

The Department of Fashion Merchandising and Apparel Design is accepting applications for a pool of part-time faculty for the 2025-2026 academic year. Positions are on an as-needed, semester-by-semester basis and work will be performed in the state of Georgia.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate courses in the B.S. Fashion Merchandising and Apparel Design program.
  • May be asked to teach in various modalities (face-to-face, hybrid, and online).

Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Fashion Merchandising, Apparel Design, Textiles, or a closely related field with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Fashion Merchandising, Apparel Design, or Textiles.
  • Demonstrated professional experience in fashion merchandising or apparel design.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work with and support student populations in various learning environments.
  • Authorization to work in the country where the position is located.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Terminal degree (e.g., MFA or PhD) in Fashion Design, Merchandising, or related discipline with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Fashion Merchandising, Apparel Design, or Textiles.
  • Teaching experience at the post-secondary level.
  • Experience teaching online or hybrid courses.
  • Portfolio of professional work in fashion or publications/presentations at conferences.
  • Familiarity with learning management systems.
  • Knowledge of sustainability practices in fashion and global supply chains.
