Music Therapist - Oncology Job at Providence Health Plan Group in Seattle

Overview

Providence Swedish is seeking a licensed Music Therapist to join our Oncology Outpatient Clinics. In this role, you will provide evidence-based music therapy interventions that reduce stress, strengthen coping skills, foster creative expression, and support the physical and emotional well-being of patients and families throughout the cancer journey.

You will work as a core member of the Psychosocial Oncology Team—which includes Music Therapy, Art Therapy, Social Work, and Psychiatry—collaborating with medical staff to ensure an integrated, interdisciplinary approach to patient and family support. The position also provides opportunities for independent clinical practice, including both individual and group interventions, while expanding and embedding music therapy services across our oncology clinics.

Responsibilities

• Provide evidence-based music therapy interventions to reduce stress, strengthen coping skills, foster creative expression, and support physical and emotional well-being of patients and families in oncology settings.
• Serve as a core member of the Psychosocial Oncology Team and collaborate with medical staff to ensure an integrated, interdisciplinary approach to patient and family support.
• Engage in independent clinical practice, including both individual and group interventions, and contribute to expanding and embedding music therapy services across oncology clinics.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree - Music Therapy from an American Music Therapy Association (AMTA) approved university program
• Board Certification in Music Therapy - Certification Board for Music Therapists upon hire
• Washington Music Therapist License upon hire
• Holds and maintain the Music Therapist-Board Certified (MT-BC) title

Preferred Qualifications:

• Advanced training in Neurologic Music Therapy
• Advanced training in Guided Imagery and Music
• 2 years of music therapy experience, medical setting preferred

The pay range listed is the base pay; additional compensation may be available (e.g., shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities).
