Description
The Mason City Public Library is accepting applications for a full-time Library Assistant I. This position will perform a variety of routine and complex clerical work, and assisting with programming in the operation of public services.
Shift Hours: 40 hrs/wk. This position will work some evening shifts each week and every other Saturday.
Duties/Responsibilities

  • Works in assigned area of library operations to achieve goals within available resources.
  • Circulates library materials: check out, check in, place holds, collect fines and fees. Checks in serials, places new serials for public use. Enters and checks patrons into patron database; annual weeds patron files.
  • Helps library users understand and use the library's automated catalog.
  • Works regularly scheduled hours at the Circulation Desk.
  • Provides advisory services to patrons.
  • Processes overdue notices and mails notices.
  • Maintains materials storage areas.
  • Shelves and shelf reads library materials.
  • Assists with programming.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:
  • Graduation from a college or university with a bachelor's degree in liberal arts.
  • Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in library operations, OR
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
