Public Allies, Inc. is hiring: Kresge Artist Fellowships in Detroit
Public Allies, Inc., Detroit, MI, United States, 48228
Overview
Kresge Artist Fellowships are $50,000 no-strings-attached awards (up from $40,000) for emerging and established artists at any stage of their careers. Fellowships recognize creative vision and commitment to excellence within a wide range of artistic disciplines—including artists who have been academically trained, self-taught artists, and artists whose art forms have been passed down through cultural heritage.
Recognition criteria
- A demonstrated track record of artistic achievement and high quality work (this is the main determinant in the selection of a fellow)
- The potential to grow and advance in their artistic career
- The potential to reflect, enhance, or impact communities within metropolitan Detroit.
Eligibility
- Anyone 18 years or older and a current legal resident of Macomb, Oakland, or Wayne County for the two years prior to the award deadline is eligible to apply. Fellows must remain a resident in the tri-county area throughout the year-long fellowship period.
- Students working toward an academic degree at the time of application—or who are planning to begin a degree-granting program—are ineligible. Ph.D. candidates who are ABD (all but dissertation) may apply.
- Staff members of Kresge Arts in Detroit or The Kresge Foundation and their immediate families are ineligible, as are previous Kresge Eminent Artist Award recipients.
- Eligibility confirmation: If your application advances to the final round of consideration for an award, Kresge Arts in Detroit will require you to submit materials that document your legal residency in the tri-county area for the last two years.
