Overview

The Phelps-Clifton Springs Central School District has an opening for a Probationary Library Media Specialist. The successful candidate will need to:

• Evaluate, select, requisition, and process new library materials;
• Provide guidance to students in the selection of library materials;
• Maintain a comprehensive and efficient cataloging system for library materials;
• Instruct teachers and students on the use of the library system(s);
• Demonstrate fluent understanding of NYS Learning Standards;
• Maintain a recovery mindset;
• Demonstrate an understanding of differentiated and blended learning;
• Effectively manage several students and/or projects at the same time in a high-paced environment;
• Able to build a positive rapport with staff, students, and parents;
• Demonstrate the willingness to work with different learning styles and learning needs;
• Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills;
• Demonstrate ability to work effectively with colleagues with successful experience in working as part of a team to create and facilitate assignments utilizing library resources while integrating classroom curriculum;
• Ability to assist students in developing independent reference work habits and skills in using reference materials;
• Make a strong commitment to professional learning and a growth mindset.

• Completion of a NYS Registered Program – Library Media Specialist
• Institutional Recommendation – Library Media Specialist
• New York State Teacher Certification Exam – Educating All Students Test (EAS)
• Content Specialty Test (CST) – Library Media Specialist or Safety Net Library Media Specialist
• Workshop – Child Abuse Identification
• Workshop – Dignity For All Students Act
• Fingerprint Clearance
