Overview
Library Specialist, Evening Lead – Part Time. CCAD's Library Department seeks a professional who can work fast-paced, independently with minimal supervision, think critically, and multi-task. The Library staff is collaborative and provides high-quality services for faculty, staff, and students. This role helps ensure procedures and processes run smoothly and supports CCAD's mission to be an agile, trusted, strategic partner delivering sustainable services and solutions.
Schedule: Monday–Thursday 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM; Sunday 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM.
Summary
The Library Specialist-Evening Lead reports to the Director of Library Services and is responsible for overseeing the library in the evenings and for assisting with administrative tasks. This part-time role works in the late afternoon/evenings during the academic semester with an adjusted day shift during breaks and summer months. Daily operations include closing the library, supervising student employees during shifts, assisting patrons at the desk, basic troubleshooting of library equipment and technology (printers, copiers, computers, scanners), basic reference and directional guidance in-person and over the phone, communicating library policies and procedures, data collection, general administrative clerical tasks, and related functions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversees student workers during evening desk shifts, ensuring tasks such as shelving, shelf-reading, locating missing items, and other related duties are completed.
- Generates and processes Ohio Private Academic Libraries (OPAL) and OhioLINK INN-REACH requests and shipments.
- Assists Library & Information Technology with invoices and general clerical paperwork.
- Guides patrons in finding and using library resources and answers basic reference questions.
- Provides basic technical troubleshooting for computers, printers, and equipment.
- Assists library staff with collection maintenance including deaccessioning and inventory.
- Performs other duties as needed.
Lead Responsibilities
Directly oversees student employees during evening shifts or works independently. Carries out lead responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws. Assists in training students, assigns and directs their work, and collaborates with the Director of Library Services to address complaints and resolve problems. Does not formally evaluate performance.

- Knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel).

- Ability to retain and follow circulation policies while resolving patron issues equitably.
- Ability to exercise appropriate judgment with minimal supervision.
Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 1 year work experience in a library or customer service environment.
- Minimum of 1 year supervisory or lead experience.
Physical Demands
- The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
- The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit, and climb or balance.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
