Position Description

The Assistant Athletics Director of Video Services and Digital Strategy is responsible for all video operations of the USC Upstate athletics department. The Assistant AD manages broadcast services via livestreaming (ESPN). This role leads strategic planning and implementation for the athletics department’s social media.

Job-Related Minimum Required Education and Experience

Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job-related field and 2 or more years of job-related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job-related certification, training, education, and/or experience.

Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials

Valid driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in all aspects of broadcast and game day production.
  • Experience in managing and training a significant student and part-time staff.
  • Video editing software experience (especially Final Cut Pro) and graphic design software.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Proficiency in video shooting, editing, and production software (e.g., Adobe Suite including Photoshop, Premiere Pro, After Effects).
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms (Twitter/X, Instagram, Facebook).
  • Knowledge of production equipment for professional-quality live broadcasts (NewTek Tricaster, 3Play, Ross Xpression, etc.).
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations; excellent interpersonal, leadership, written and oral communication skills.
  • Loyalty to the university and athletics department; ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.
  • Willingness to travel for meetings, conferences, or with teams as needed.

Job Duties

  • Coordinate, create and implement multimedia content and game day production for video scoreboards at home men’s and women’s basketball games and volleyball matches.
  • Coordinate, create and implement multimedia content and game day production for video scoreboards at home men’s and women’s soccer games and softball games.
  • Oversee the production value/quality of the ESPN and Big South broadcasts for multiple sports; create and produce graphic designs for social media, television, and in-venue videoboards; supervise student staff.
  • Oversee department digital strategy and calendaring of content for team and main accounts; develop and execute digital strategy; coordinate with department communication and marketing efforts.
  • Oversee the production of highlight videos for YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and other platforms; record and produce coaches’ shows as needed for distribution online.
  • Train and supervise student worker staff in video operations.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Senior Associate Athletics Director for External Operations and the Director of Athletics.
