Pay Grade / Pay Rate: Hourly pay rate starting at $12.00/hour with increases to $13.50/hour upon completion of training and certification (usually within one semester)
Summary: The Office Assistant (OA) performs foundational duties of Writing Center functioning and assists the Writing Center Coordinator with a variety of critical tasks, including forwarding phone calls and taking messages as needed.
- Open the Writing Center and DELC each morning and close the centers each night (depending on shift).
- Help students schedule tutoring sessions, online and in-person.
- Assist students at the front desk with login and check-in for sessions.
- Serve as liaison between tutors and students to manage session times and tutor assignments.
- Assist students with time management and exploring appointment options or due dates.
- Support customer relations by helping students with computer logins, phone assistance, and general inquiries.
- Organize and update online and printed forms for Writing Center and DELC stations; perform copying and other office duties as needed.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be a WSU student with GPA 3.0 or higher
- Demonstrated writing proficiency
- Interpersonal and customer service skills
- Word processing, internet, and email skills
- Appropriate office organization and ability to support program goals
- Interest in contributing to the success of others, leadership opportunities preferred
Preferred Qualifications
- Willingness to contribute beyond basic job requirements
- Interest in developing interpersonal, technical, and leadership skills in a supportive environment
