You will also support other research needs within Roku’s Content business area, working on products and features that help connect users with content they love while balancing business goals and user needs.

About the role

Roku is seeking an experienced UX Researcher to focus primarily on innovative, engagement-driven content experiences within the Roku platform. These projects go beyond helping viewers find content quickly, aiming to make time spent in the Roku interface enjoyable, memorable, and habit-forming. You will contribute to initiatives that blend entertainment, interactivity, and discovery. You will also support other research needs within Roku’s Content business area, working on products and features that help connect users with content they love while balancing business goals and user needs.

California only: The estimated annual base salary for this position is between 180,000 – 210,000. Compensation packages are based on factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, certifications, and geographical location. This role is eligible for health insurance, equity awards, life insurance, disability benefits, parental leave, wellness benefits, and paid time off.

What you'll be doing

  • Develop, plan, and execute research initiatives in collaboration with UX Research managers, other UX researchers, product managers, leaders at Roku, UX and visual designers, and others
  • Utilize research insights to influence the selection, definition, and design of product offerings that maximize engagement and retention
  • Collect and analyze user behavior through generative and evaluative methodologies
  • Effectively present research insights to diverse stakeholder audiences through written reports and presentations
  • Work closely with key stakeholders to identify problems and business goals that your research will address
  • Be a deeply embedded member of product teams, while collaborating with the UX research team

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience as a UX Researcher in industry settings (not including academic experience)
  • Proven skill with a broad methodological toolkit, including interviews, usability testing, surveys, field studies, diary studies, and quantitative analysis
  • Ability to select the most appropriate methods for a given problem
  • Experience collaborating with teams of business leaders, designers, researchers, and product managers
  • Experience understanding business strategy and balancing user and business needs
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, presentation, interpersonal, and analytical skills
  • Experience with mixed methods research
  • Strong project management skills to define, plan, and lead projects forward
  • Experience in the entertainment field, working with TV/Movies teams is a plus
  • Ability to operate autonomously with ownership of research for whole products and multi-phase planning
  • Comfortable receiving guidance from UX Research managers or senior researchers and from non-research stakeholders
  • A passion for researching people
