Position purpose and objectives

This position is responsible and accountable for installing the electronic, hardware, and wiring components of audio-visual systems according to company standards. The technician will work with minimal supervision to receive, inventory, assemble and install AV equipment on job site locations, following company policies and procedures including safety, quality, environmental, and business practices. This is a travel-heavy role with responsibilities across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Receive, inventory, assemble, install, commission and test AV and related equipment on job sites with minimal supervision.
  • Move and position large equipment or wiring supplies; lift up to 50 lbs unassisted and steady objects overhead when secured by co-workers.
  • Troubleshoot audio and video cabling; install and terminate cables with appropriate solder or compression connectors.
  • Drill in drywall, concrete, and cinderblock to run wires and install projectors, screens, cameras, and speaker systems.
  • Perform light construction tasks such as sanding and painting; clean up job sites and organize materials.
  • Install electronic and electrical components into equipment racks per wiring diagrams or instructions.
  • Work in confined spaces and at heights (ladders and lifts above 10 ft).
  • Provide mentorship to other installers and technicians; perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, skills and abilities

  • Prior AV experience
  • CTS certification or ability to achieve within six months of start date; CTS-I certification within six months after CTS
  • Willingness to travel regularly, often on short notice, with long/unusual hours
  • Ability to pass criminal background check, motor vehicle review and drug test prior to start
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Computer proficiency with Google, Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Experience with hand tools, small power tools, and industrial tools
  • Ability to learn new tasks quickly and make decisions under tight timelines
  • Problem-solving and time management skills; professional and approachable demeanor
  • Valid driver’s license with minimal citations in last two years and reliable transportation
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and complete safety compliance training

Working conditions

  • Work may occur in normal, air-conditioned environments or in cold/hot construction environments, outdoors or in suspension rigs.

Job details
