Overview
The Library Services Division at South Florida Bible College & Theological Seminary (SFBC&TS) is seeking a qualified candidate to serve as Associate Dean of Learning Resources. This full-time position will be located at SFBC&TS’s Deerfield Beach, FL campus and will begin in January of 2026. The applicant must be authorized to work in the U.S.
South Florida Bible College & Theological Seminary is an institution of higher learning where the Bible is central in preparing men and women for ministry to serve Christ and His Church through Biblical thought and Christian life.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Office Responsibilities
- Maintain congruency between the school\'s board-approved mission statement and all academic activities.
- Return all emails and voice messages within 1 business day.
- Maintain a true example of Christian character in the community.
- Actively write for the accreditation process and contribute to the collection and analysis of assessment and accreditation data for the enhancement of the department/programs.
- Oversee the evaluation of the library in conjunction with the Director of Institutional Effectiveness.
Learning Resource Leadership
- Plan, organize and direct the operation of the library.
- Articulate a vision to expand services to students and faculty through technology.
- Provide training and support to faculty and students on the use of the technologies and services employed by the library as needed.
- Provide reference services to students, faculty, and other patrons.
- Manage the development and conservation of the library’s collections.
- Purchase new volumes for the library upon recommendation from the faculty.
- Develop, implement, and interpret library policies and procedures.
Administration
- Hires, trains, and supervises all library staff, including conducting annual performance reviews.
- Schedule hours of library staff.
- Manages departmental budget(s).
- Ensure the accuracy, clarity, and usefulness of library information included in the academic catalog, web pages, and other print and digital material.
- Leads the production of the Library Handbook annually.
Reporting and Analysis
- Generates and analyzes data related to library usage, satisfaction, and other relevant metrics.
- Prepares reports for administration and accreditation purposes.
- Prepare annual and other reports, such as IPEDS, End-of-Year, and ABHE.
Communication
- Serves as a conduit for information to flow in and out of the library to other departments, schools and offices throughout the institution, as well as to students and parents.
- Maintains Library information on Populi and the online catalog system.
- Participate in faculty governance, committees, and other events/organizations on campus. Attend all mandatory meetings and retreats.
- Participate in faculty meetings, staff meetings, and committee service. Chair the Learning Resources Committee.
- Operates at a high level of proficiency in the technology tools used by the institution (e.g., Populi, Follet-Destiny, Teams, and MS Office).
- Participate in chapel and other school related events such as commencement and various honor ceremonies.
- Attend school events sporadically as needed, including student life events that may occur on weekends. Performs other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
- Earned Master of Library Science (MLS) or Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) from an accredited seminary or university.
- Experience in higher education library administration.
- Familiarity with ABHE standards for library resources.
- Strong knowledge of biblical and theological reference materials.
