Job Description
Cerritos College is seeking a full-time Assistant Buyer to coordinate the ordering and purchasing of library resources and assist in other library operations as needed.
The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent and 3 years of production-oriented clerical and record-keeping experience, preferably in a purchasing or distribution environment involving contracts and inventory control.
Responsibilities:
- Receives and reviews incoming requisitions, converts requisitions to purchase orders, and assigns vendor codes.
- Participates in the acquisition of materials, identifies sources, orders, and recommends current and retrospective acquisition needs.
- Places orders for supplies, books, and other materials, and verifies that payments are commensurate with receipt of purchased and received items.
- Receives new materials, enters into the system, prepares for circulation, inventory, or immediate use, and provides location numbering to library materials.
- Prepares purchase orders for administrative services, supplies, and equipment, and maintains records of transactions and use of equipment and services.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3 years of production-oriented clerical and record-keeping experience.
- Preferred: 1-year experience working in a library environment, hands-on experience with Alma (Ex Libris) library management system, and experience in procurement of library materials.
Working Conditions:
The position is a full-time, 12-calendar month classified position, primarily a daytime position with occasional evening and Saturday work.
Salary and Benefits:
Grade 29 on District Classified Salary Schedule ($5,014.22 - $6,014.38 /month), with health and welfare benefits, including District contribution for medical/dental/vision benefits and employee life insurance.
