Lawrence Public Schools Music Teacher – Frost Middle School, Lawrence, MA

Overview

Position: Music Instructor for grades 5–8. Location: Frost Middle School (FMR). Job Type: Full-time, non-exempt.

Responsibilities

• Take responsibility to be a positive force daily in the classroom, motivating students to work hard and want to learn.
• Design, implement, and collaborate around high-quality curricula that incorporate research-based strategies to help students meet standards.
• Motivate students to reach high achievement by setting goals and providing feedback on progress toward academic goals.
• Build supportive working relationships with fellow teachers and staff, and provide regular feedback to help develop associate teachers.
• Other responsibilities as assigned by administration.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Developing lesson plans and instructional materials for music classes.
• Teaching fundamentals of music theory and appreciation, including rhythm, harmony, and scales.
• Strong instrumental skills, including piano accompaniment.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Massachusetts Teacher Certification in the appropriate area (Licensure in Music: Vocal/Instrumental/General).
• Ability to work with musicians at all skill levels.
• Bachelor’s Degree Required.
• Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.

Pay and Benefits

Base pay range: $56,415.00/yr – $84,063.00/yr.
