Role Summary

The Manager, Public Relations leads the development and execution of Brother’s public relations strategy to elevate the brand's reputation, drive media visibility, and support business growth. This role cultivates strong media relationships, oversees proactive storytelling and product launches, and ensures consistent, high-impact messaging across all channels.

Key responsibilities include creating a scalable PR playbook, crisis communications support, and cross‑regional alignment with Americas counterparts. The role partners with internal teams and external agencies to measure PR performance and translate business goals into compelling stories.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Public Relations (PR) / Strategy Development & Execution: Develop, lead, and refine an integrated PR strategy aligned with Brother’s business goals, brand positioning, and marketing priorities; create and own a comprehensive PR playbook; lead proactive storytelling; identify newsworthy opportunities; ensure all PR content aligns with brand tone and messaging.
  • Media Relations & Outreach: Manage the PR agency relationship; develop tailored media pitches; plan and manage media briefings, interviews, desk-side meetings, and press events; oversee the product review program with media; monitor daily media landscape for opportunities.
  • Product & Campaign Launches: Lead PR strategy and execution for major launches; collaborate with marketing, social media, and paid media to integrate PR into broader campaigns; identify partnerships, events, and speaking opportunities.
  • Crisis Communications & Reputation Management: Develop a crisis framework; serve as primary PR lead during crises; counsel executives on issues impacting brand reputation.
  • PR Measurement & Insights: Define KPIs beyond impressions; deliver regular performance reports; conduct competitive benchmarking.

Experience & Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent) in Business, Marketing, Journalism, Communications, PR, or related field
  • Master's Degree in Business, Marketing, Journalism, Communications, PR, or similar field – Preferred

Experience

  • 7+ years in public relations activities and strategy/implementation in corporate or agency settings; experience managing agencies, budgets, and a diverse product portfolio

Skills & Tools

  • Strong knowledge of traditional PC and Apple software suites
  • Knowledge of media tracking platforms (Cision, Hubspot, Meltwater) – Preferred
  • Knowledge of PR best practices, social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Pinterest, etc.)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; strong collaboration; attention to detail
  • Familiarity with Digital PR Tools (Prowly, Muck Rack, Prezly, Critical Mention) – Preferred
  • Knowledge of office equipment B2B/B2C markets – Preferred

Compensation & Benefits

Base Salary: The targeted base salary range for this position is $105,000 - $125,000 per year. Base salary is determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and market data.

Additional Compensation: Eligible for a 15% bonus at 100% of target, with potential above 100% based on company performance and bonus plans. Bonus awards are discretionary and contingent on individual performance and company objectives.
