Embark on an exhilarating journey with the DISCO team at Amazon Music. As a technologist, you’ll have end-to-end ownership of the science product, design, and technology required to deliver state-of-the-art experiences for our internal customers. Be the driving force behind delivering accessible data and democratizing data access through self-service tools.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead Data Science solutions from beginning to end.
  • Collaborate with AI/ML scientists and architects to research, design, develop, and evaluate generative AI solutions to address real-world challenges.
  • Deliver with independence on challenging large-scale problems with complexity and ambiguity.
  • Write code (Python, Scala, SQL, etc.) to obtain, manipulate, and analyze data.
  • Build Machine Learning and statistical models to solve specific business problems.
  • Retrieve, synthesize, and present critical data in a format that is immediately useful to answering questions or improving system performance.
  • Analyze historical data to identify trends and support optimal decision making.
  • Apply statistical and machine learning knowledge to specific business problems and data.
  • Formalize assumptions about how systems should work, define outliers, and develop methods to identify them; analyze why they occur and what actions are needed.
  • Investigate anomalies and generate automatic scripts to define anomalies, explaining root causes and potential fixes.
  • Conduct written and verbal presentations to share insights to audiences of varying technical levels.

Basic Qualifications

  • 2+ years of data scientist experience
  • 3+ years of experience with data querying languages (e.g., SQL), scripting languages (e.g., Python) or statistical software (e.g., R, SAS, Matlab)
  • 3+ years of machine learning/statistical modeling, data analysis tools and techniques
  • Experience applying theoretical models in an applied environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Python, Perl, or another scripting language
  • Experience in a ML or data scientist role with a large technology company

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $125,500/year to $212,800/year, dependent on location and experience.
