Overview
Front Office Sports is seeking a full-time News Editor to join our fast-moving newsroom of driven reporters and editors covering the business of sports. The News Editor will report to the Editorial Director of News, who reports to the Editor in Chief. The role requires an indefatigable appetite for identifying, assigning, editing, and publishing news and excellent communication, feedback, and multitasking skills to work with reporters and collaborate interdepartmentally with the multimedia and social teams. We are particularly interested in someone on the West Coast who is willing to work a Tuesday through Saturday schedule and who has a background in sports media/sports television.

Compensation: $65,000 - $95,000 / year
Key Responsibilities
- Work with reporters and editors to identify news and ideate fresh angles
- Edit copy quickly and cleanly, and think critically about headlines and framing
- Manage time to cover breaking news while also editing longer-term stories and weekend features
- Collaborate with teams producing the daily flagship newsletter, The Memo
- Familiarity with sports media, specifically sports television programming and the companies and networks that air sports programming
- Coordinate with the social team on framing news stories for social platforms and with the multimedia team on video ideas tied to our news stories
- Represent the newsroom on social media by sharing our stories
- Willingness to engage in off-hours news edits when possible
- Protect and uphold Front Office Sports’ quality and credibility as a reputable journalistic outlet
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- 5+ years of experience in an editorial role, preferably in sports and/or business news
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Proficiency in content management systems (CMS) and editorial tools
- In-depth knowledge of sports industry trends, news cycles, and audience engagement
- Proven ability to develop and execute content strategies that drive engagement and audience growth
- Team-player and collaborative attitude
- Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
