The Managing Editor plays a pivotal role in overseeing editorial operations, developing innovative programs, and driving strategic initiatives to maintain our competitive edge. This role requires advanced editorial production knowledge, strong leadership abilities, and a commitment to fostering a culture of excellence and innovation. You will lead content development for both print and digital platforms, mentor associates, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure quality, timeliness, and strategic alignment with company goals.

Responsibilities
- Oversee editorial production: Apply advanced knowledge in producing high-quality digital and print content.
- Launch new initiatives: Develop and implement new programs and content offerings to meet audience needs and outperform competitors.
- Lead and mentor: Supervise and guide 2 or more associates, providing regular feedback and fostering professional growth.
- Set and achieve SMART goals: Align team objectives with broader company strategy to ensure measurable success.
- Serve as liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for editorial boards and editor-in-chiefs to strengthen partnerships.
- Run effective meetings: Facilitate decision-making processes to keep projects on track.
- Make decisive calls: Demonstrate ownership and accountability in all editorial decisions.
- Foster positive culture: Uphold a constructive work environment, steering clear of criticism, condemnation, or complaint.
- Delegate strategically: Assign responsibilities based on team strengths to optimize efficiency and quality.
- Audit and improve: Conduct content performance audits and implement data-driven enhancements.
- Innovate for growth: Identify opportunities to generate, retain, or engage audiences through new strategies and formats.
- Coach for success: Provide targeted development plans to direct reports, building their skills and performance.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or related field preferred.
Experience
- 5+ years in editorial roles with demonstrated leadership and management responsibilities.
- Proven success launching and executing editorial programs and initiatives.
- Experience mentoring and developing team members.

Compensation
$60,000 – $70,000 per year, depending on qualifications. Eligible for annual company bonus program or commission incentive based on role.
