Job Description

A Technical Writer Editor XML is responsible for creating, editing, and formatting technical content in XML format. They collaborate with subject matter experts to gather information and transform it into clear and concise documentation. Their role includes reviewing and revising content for accuracy, clarity, and adherence to style guidelines. Additionally, they may be involved in developing templates and style guides, as well as ensuring proper organization and structure of XML-based documentation. Strong XML skills, attention to detail, and excellent writing and editing abilities are essential for this role.

Compensation & Benefits

Estimated Starting Salary Range for Technical Writer Editor XML: $55,000-$59,000 per year. Pay commensurate with experience. Full-time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, and other possible benefits as provided.

Technical Writer Editor XML Responsibilities Include

  • Circulates technical data products including Maintenance Procedure Cards (MPCs), Time Compliance Technical Orders (TCTOs), and Technical Standards, as well as providing assistance to produce other technical or process documents for promulgation.
  • Converts MS Word source documents in USCG standard InDesign templates to PDF for final publication.
  • Supports publication activities including production of indexes and change documentation, creation of manuals, and ultimately upload and activation in the enterprise content management system in accordance with publication schedules.
  • Performs other job-related duties as required.

Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested

  • Minimum 3 years of job-related experience.
  • Ability to pass a U.S. Government security investigation and meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • Demonstrate good written communication skills, detail-oriented and organizational abilities.
  • Working knowledge of word processing and integrated software applications used to perform related tasks.
  • Technical Writers must have experience creating/modifying documents using software tools such as InDesign/Arbortext and other specialized publishing software.
  • Must gain a working level understanding of CG-LIMS STIP, which is the system of record for all USCG Surface and C4i Technical Data.
  • Ability to successfully pass a federal background check and drug screens is required.
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.
