Responsibilities
- Teaching a part-time schedule of Film courses as assigned
- Using a variety of pedagogies and instructional delivery systems, including face-to-face, online, and/or hybrid formats, with appropriate technology integration
- Communicating effectively with students, faculty and staff
- Adhering to institutionally approved curriculum outlines of record and using effective teaching methods for the subject matter
- Evaluating student progress through tests, assignments, oral responses, etc., in line with course objectives
- Providing course syllabi to students and maintaining classroom records in accordance with District Policy
- Submitting all required grading and evaluation reports in a timely manner
- Teaching assignments in a variety of instructional settings and times, including classes as needed
- Fulfilling duties as required by Administrative Regulation 7122 and other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
All candidates must demonstrate responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of community college students and commit to equity-minded practice in the classroom.
- Master’s degree in Film/Cinema and Media Studies, Film, Television, and Media Studies, Drama/Theater, Mass Communication; or
- Bachelor’s degree in any of the above and Master’s degree in Visual Studies, Media Studies, English, or Communication; or
- A valid California Community College Credential; or
- The equivalent education and/or experience (equivalency).
Note: If degrees listed on transcripts do not match exactly, you must petition for equivalency.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion into responsibilities
- Experience working with racially minoritized students and understanding historical patterns of exclusion in higher education
- Willingness to adapt instructional practices to better support diverse student populations
- Experience with diverse student populations and use of technology in instruction
- Ability to collaborate with faculty and staff to enhance instruction and student success
- Strong communication with students and staff; knowledge of current assessment methods; understanding of the community college mission
Additional Information
Application process for part-time faculty is governed by the hiring department. This position does not have a closing date; applications are accepted on an ongoing basis and will be placed into a continuous pool. Start dates may vary. If you are not interviewed/selected within 18 months, you may need to submit a new application.
