Optomi, in partnership with a large entertainment and media company, is seeking a Media Engineer to ensure the stability, sustainment, and performance of live media production and distribution environments. The right candidate will possess strong technical expertise across broadcast standards, IP-based media workflows, cloud platforms, and studio systems, with the ability to independently troubleshoot complex issues and integrate new technologies with minimal supervision.

Experience of the Right Candidate
- 3+ years in live media production/distribution environments, ensuring uptime, sustainment, and technical stability.
- Proficiency with SMPTE standards (e.g., ST 292M, ST 424M, ST 2110, ST 2059, IEEE 1588, ST 2022-7, SCTE-104) with relevant certification preferred.
- Knowledge of on-prem and cloud-based storage/compute platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) with at least one foundational certification (Microsoft Azure Fundamentals, CompTIA Cloud+, AWS Solutions Architect – Associate).
- Hands-on experience with compression techniques such as MPEG2/4, HEVC, JPEG 2000, JPEG XS.
- Familiarity with Evertz software systems (VistaLink, Magnum, VLPRO, SDVN, VIP, VUE, MVP, EQX/EXE routers).
- Experience with major vendor solutions in asset management, transcoding/encoding, file-based workflows, graphics, NAS/SAN.
- Exposure to IRDs, core/edge devices, A/V timing and sync, and multiple audio/video media formats.
- Ability to create, read, and interpret AutoCAD or similar technical documentation tools.
- Proven troubleshooting expertise in one or more of the following:
- IP-based broadcast equipment (routers, switchers, audio boards, processors, encoders/decoders, scalers, playback systems)
- Studio technology (cameras, video walls, VR set technology, lighting, image processing, touch screens)
- File-based workflows (cloud or on-prem Media Asset Management, encoding, distribution)
- Cloud technologies (AWS S3/Glacier, EC2 compute services)
- Physical ability to climb ladders, work on elevated structures/roofs, operate aerial lifts; valid driver’s license required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field is a plus (or equivalent experience).
Responsibilities of the Right Candidate
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues impacting production, broadcast, and content distribution across DEEPT networks.
- Monitor and maintain system health, applying patches, updates, and preventative maintenance.
- Analyze and troubleshoot streaming signals in SDI and IP 2110 routing environments.
- Manage third-party service providers (contractors, freelancers, maintenance partners, agencies).
- Train, evaluate, and mentor technical staff.
- Specify, procure, and maintain equipment and supplies within budget guidelines.
- Contribute to long-term planning for media technology and capital improvements.
- Develop and implement policies/procedures to integrate systems and meet business, marketing, and entertainment objectives.
- Support upgrades to hardware, software, and workflows under guidance from senior engineers.
- Participate in complex engineering projects, ensuring accurate system and workflow documentation.
- Deliver training and development sessions for peers and junior engineers.
- Provide operational support for production/distribution systems across enterprise and partner properties.
