Responsibilities
- Plans, implements, coordinates, and supervises an assigned group of children and youth; promotes quality of programs and safety of campers at all times; provides guidance and role modeling to campers; promotes and stimulates camper participation; coordinates and leads campers through their daily schedule ensuring punctuality and responsibility; supervises campers during unscheduled program time and evenings; ensures compliance with camp rules and regulations at all times.
 - Counselor Duties: Supervises and organizes an assigned group of campers during scheduled activities and unscheduled blocks of time in cooperation with camp rules and regulations.
 - Promotes and stimulates participation of campers to ensure a pleasant camp experience. Supervises cabin clean up and work details.
 - Coordinates and leads youth through their daily schedule ensuring punctuality and responsibility; lives with a group of campers and helps each camper adjust and get to know other campers and camp life.
 - Interprets and maintains camper compliance with camp rules and camp safety and health regulations. Assists with program activities and other activities as assigned working closely with the program staff.
 - Be prepared with rainy day activities as needed.
 - Inspects fire extinguishers and reports to Head Counselor if any extinguisher has been dispensed; ensures cleaning solutions are locked up except during use and used only with supervision.
 - Maintains safety and space in cabins (beds distance, exits) and stays in cabin with campers at night, with supervision arrangements as required.
 - Moves with campers to all classes and activities, and remains with them unless otherwise noted; campers to cabin and bedtime preparations.
 - Keeps door to room open at night to maintain order; maintains an incident report book for all campers; report serious situations to Head Counselor.
 - May be asked to teach a class according to experience or to assist with one; at end of camp session, wipe down facilities to control germs.
 - Provides constant care for campers in a clean, safe, and healthy manner; determines supplies for activities; maintains camp materials and accountability for laundry, money, and supplies.
 - Prepares and maintains up-to-date records and required reports (attendance, development progress, discipline reports, etc.).
 - Assists in leading campers during waterfront, nature, outdoor, arts & crafts or other activities; ensures accountability and safety during free time and evenings.
 - Participates as a member of the camp staff team to deliver and supervise evening programs, special events, overnights and all-camp activities; assists with meals and maintains living quarters.
 - Be available to participate and assist with camp programs and activities as directed by the Camp Director.
 - May assist in cleaning cabins, kitchen, tables, floors, etc., and in preparing and serving snacks and meals; ensures nutritious and tasteful food and a positive mealtime atmosphere.
 
Music Instructor Duties
- Provides quality music instruction to campers; teaches music theory appropriate to level; reviews homework and re-teaches skills if necessary.
 - Cares for instruments during class and reports necessary repairs to the Divisional Music Director; prepares students for recitals and concerts.
 - Plans and monitors student work, ensures accuracy and completeness; develops activities to enhance musical abilities and coordination.
 - Maintains discipline and a friendly, secure atmosphere; participates in various classes as assigned; delivers evening programs and other camp functions.
 - Sits with camper tables during meals as a table monitor; keeps living quarters neat and ready for inspection; available to participate in camp programs as directed by the Camp Director.
 
What We Are Looking For In You
- Six months experience teaching child development or youth programs in a church preferred; six months experience teaching music education and teaching experience, with the ability to play and teach lessons in a classroom setting involving more than one student preferred
 - Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
 
Physical Requirements And Working Conditions
- Endurance including climbing, standing, bending, stooping, and stretching; eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate activities; normal range of hearing and eyesight to record and communicate camper activities;
 - Ability to lift up to 50 lbs; willingness to live in a camp setting and work irregular hours; exposure to sun, heat, and varying environmental conditions.
