Technical Writer
Pay: $39-36
Duration: 6 months (with the potential to extend)
Work Type: On-site at Hemlock plant

This is an ITAR facility. Candidates must be compliant with DOD/ITAR requirements and be US citizens or nationals.

Top skills/requirements:

  • 5+ years as a Tech Writer in a manufacturing environment
  • Minimum of Associates required, Bachelors preferred

Education: Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, Communications, or STEM field

Minimum Experience: 5+ Years

Scope of Position:

We are seeking an experienced Sr. Technical Writer to create clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation of processes and equipment for use by engineers, technicians, trades, or operators such as standard operating procedures, preventative maintenance procedures, and training documents.

As a Sr. Technical Writer, you will collaborate with a multi-functional team (mechanical, electrical, controls, facilities, IT, operations, etc.) to collect data and information to utilize in developing documentation in a new manufacturing facility.

The Sr. Technical Writer will also help to coordinate and train a small group of junior technical writers.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, Communications, or STEM field is preferred, but will consider candidates with extensive experience without the degree.
  • Proven experience as a Technical Writer (or in a similar role) in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to understand complex technical information and translate it for non-technical audiences.
  • Proficiency in tools such as Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat or similar documentation software.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating the task and workplan for team members to meet project schedule
  • Providing hands on input and insight into equipment installation and troubleshooting
  • Support start-up and qualification of equipment.
  • Coordinating installation plan with safety and plant receivers
  • Conferring with Corning engineers and vendors to resolve equipment operational and maintenance procedural issues/questions/discrepancies.
  • Ensure safe work practices
  • Updating equipment and safety documentation

Travel Requirements:

Minimal travel is expected for this role with it being on-site at the Michigan plant.
