Salary: The previously determined range for this position was $36.08/hr to $80.98/hr*. Final rate offered will be determined by the collective bargaining agreement, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, and budget constraints. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a rate at or near the top of the full range for a position.
Residency Requirement: This position requires Illinois residency within 180 days of the hire date. (RNs only)

Position Summary
The Staff Nurse I provides direct patient care and works to improve patient outcomes by integrating Shared Leadership, Evidence Based Practice, Relationship Based Care, and standards of nursing excellence into clinical practice. The Staff Nurse I engages with patients and families to advocate for the patient, develops an appropriate educational plan, and collaborates with the health care team to promote effective patient care. The Staff Nurse I participates in organizational, departmental, and shared leadership activities and supports department and unit goals in daily behavior.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Develops, implements, and updates the patient’s plan of care based on ongoing assessment and input from the patient’s family.
- Shares information and collaborates with other members of the health care team to promote effective patient care.
- Verifies and implements orders from physicians and other providers; documents accurately in the electronic medical record.
- Engages with patients and families to develop an appropriate educational plan.
- Recognizes symptoms, establishes priorities, and responds to changing patient needs.
- Delegates appropriate tasks per the Illinois State Nurse Practice Act and supports staff.
- Advocates for patients, families, and the community; participates in professional nursing roles.
- Integrates theory, evidence-based practice, and current standards to provide quality patient care.
- Assumes Charge Nurse role when assigned and uses available resources.
- Collaborates with other nurses to provide positive learning experiences for staff and students.
- Serves as preceptor and/or resource to staff and students.
- Pursues ongoing professional growth and development.
- Other duties as assigned; participate in special projects as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- Eligibility for licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Division of Professional Regulation.
- Current BLS/CPR and/or other required unit-specific certifications.
- Current advanced cardiac life support, or within 6 months of hire for main hospital.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior Operating Room experience.
