We are looking for a creative and driven Packaging Designer to join our team. This role offers growth opportunities and involves designing and developing new and revised packaging solutions with a focus on cost efficiency and performance improvement. Key responsibilities include producing prototypes using CAD, conducting packaging audits during customer site visits, coordinating with tooling suppliers, and supporting Sales Representatives during client meetings. The ideal candidate will also foster strong internal relationships to promote collaboration and innovation across departments.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Design and revise packaging with a focus on cost reduction and performance improvement.
Produce prototypes and small production runs using CAD for testing and specification documentation.
Conduct packaging audits and site visits to improve existing packaging with innovative solutions.
Coordinate with tooling suppliers to ensure timely and accurate development.
Travel with Sales Representatives to customer locations as needed.
Build strong internal relationships to support efficient communication with Customers, Sales, and Operations.
Assist with routine lab functions to support testing and development processes.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree preferred in Packaging or Industrial Design, or 2–5 years of relevant design experience
Proficient in Microsoft Office, CAD software (Artios CAD, Cape Pack, TOPPS), and sample cutting table operation
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with internal teams and external customers
Solid understanding of box plant machinery, tooling, scoring, spec sheets, and production processes
Knowledge of paperboard stocks, corrugation, board grades, and printing methods
Familiarity with the corrugated industry; point-of-purchase (POP) experience is a plus
Strong math, spatial reasoning, and 3D visualization skills
Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work both independently and in a team
Capable of managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
