Overview Brown University Athletics is seeking candidates for multiple seasonal Athletics Public Address Announcer positions.
Located in Providence, Rhode Island, and a member of the Ivy League, our intercollegiate athletics program consists of 38 varsity teams with approximately 1,000 athletes who participate within the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA-DI).
Responsibilities Inform everyone in attendance at an athletic contest of all pertinent information occurring during the event.
Perform commercial “reads” throughout the game or event and project clearly to a large crowd.
Annunciate accurately and announce at the appropriate times, with knowledge of the event and its rules.
Observe and react to events on the field/court/venue to accurately announce information.
Interact with game officials, Athletic Communications staff, Event Management staff, and Marketing and Promotions staff as needed.

Qualifications Comprehensive knowledge of a given sport’s rules and regulations.
Ability to learn and apply specific game protocol as it pertains to Ivy League and NCAA rules.
Excellent speaking voice with the ability to project and annunciate and to read announcements in a timely fashion.
Ability to work in a dynamic environment and communicate clearly with stakeholders during events.

Other Requirements All division employees must demonstrate exemplary ethical conduct and conformance to NCAA and Ivy League rules and regulations; duties are performed in compliance with applicable policies. Any known or suspected rule violations should be reported to the compliance office.
Coaching staff must receive annual rules education on NCAA recruiting legislation and maintain current AED/CPR and First Aid certification (certificate available at no cost through the Division).
Background Check – Criminal and Education verification required. All offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of a background check and education verification satisfactory to Brown.
