Overview

The PT Clerk, Library and Shelving performs a variety of routine services and basic functions. Work is performed with some direct supervision. Performs defined duties as required for assigned activities of the department. Prepares reports, data, information in compliance with clear processes and guidelines.

Essential Job Functions

  • Shelves materials in proper location in proper order; keeps shelves neat
  • Handles circulation desk activities when assigned; this includes using computerized circulation system
  • Cleans and mends library material when assigned
  • Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Must be physically able to shelve books and push a cart or lift a container of 40 pounds
  • Must be able to bend, stoop and stretch
  • Ability to shelve books in proper alphabetical and numerical order
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Strong customer service skills

Physical Abilities

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

Work Schedule And Conditions

  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Some related experience

Salary: Hourly Pay Rate is $10.54
