Planet 13 seeks a Freelance Graphic & Motion Designer to create visually engaging, on-brand assets across digital, social, and in-store channels. The contractor will design static graphics and produce short-form motion content (e.g., animated typography, logos, reels, promos, screen loops) that drive engagement and reinforce brand consistency. The ideal candidate brings a strong multi-channel design portfolio, expert motion chops, and familiarity with visual trends in retail; cannabis industry experience a plus.

Scope of Work (Key Responsibilities)

• Develop social tiles, paid ad creatives, email/header graphics, landing page assets, event/promotional materials, and in-store digital signage.
• Produce 2D/2.5D animations, animated typography, transitions, lower-thirds, logo animations, and short promos for TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, OTT/CTV, and in-store screens.
• Create mood boards, style frames, and light storyboards/animatics; translate creative briefs into clear visual narratives.
• Cut short-form videos, time music/SFX, add captions, and finish to platform specs (safe areas, frame rates, durations).
• Deliver multi-format aspect ratios (9:16, 1:1, 4:5, 16:9) and language/market variants as briefed.
• Build reusable templates, and motion systems for efficient campaign scaling.
• Apply brand guidelines and include required disclaimers/age-gating for cannabis content per market.
• Ensure readability, color accuracy, audio levels, and export quality; perform pre-published checks.
• Work with marketing leads, copywriters, and channel owners; implement feedback within agreed revision rounds and timelines.
• Maintain organized file structures, version control, and clean handoffs per Planet 13 standards.

Deliverables & Quality Standards

• Layered source files (e.g., AI/PSD/INDD) and exports (PNG/JPG/PDF) to spec.
• Project files (e.g., AEP/PRPROJ), lossless/alpha renders for handoff (ProRes 4444 w/ alpha when needed), and distribution masters (e.g., H.264).
• Frame rates 23.976/24/30 as briefed; color space Rec.709; loudness and captioning per platform guidelines.
• Acceptance criteria, deadlines, and delivery formats defined in each SOW/brief.

Qualifications

• Portfolio showcasing multi-channel graphic design and motion work (reels, animated ads, screen loops).
• Expert in Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and After Effects; working knowledge of Premiere Pro (or equivalent NLE).
• Strong command of typography, layout, color, pacing, and visual storytelling.
• Experience building scalable design systems and motion templates.
• Familiarity with regulated-industry creative and platform ad policies (cannabis experience a plus).
• Organized, detail-driven, and comfortable juggling multiple deadlines.

Tools/Software

• Contractor supplies and maintains software licenses, fonts, and plug-ins; discloses third-party assets and usage rights.
• Planet 13 provides brand assets, style guides, and required templates.

Compensation & Invoicing

• Hourly, or retainer as defined per SOW; milestone-based invoicing per agreement.
• Contractor is solely responsible for all taxes and withholdings (1099).

Intellectual Property & Confidentiality

• IP ownership/licensing governed by the MSA/SOW; unless otherwise stated, deliverables are work-made-for-hire or assigned to Planet 13 upon full payment.
• Contractor will protect confidential information and comply with any NDA.

Compliance

• When on Planet 13 premises or systems, contractor will follow reasonable site-specific security/access protocols and applicable laws/regulations.
• Contractor remains responsible for their own business compliance, insurance, and permits.
