We are seeking an administrative support specialist to manage the daily operation of the Department of Music and Theatre office. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, plus one year of specialized training and/or experience in a related clerical field.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support to the Department of Music and Theatre, including managing the calendar of events, maintaining public relations, and overseeing student workers.
  • Perform clerical duties, such as answering phones, greeting visitors, and providing general information.
  • Assist with event production and coordination, including reserving performance space, coordinating contracts, and managing the online calendar of events.
  • Maintain records, including adjunct instructor and contracted professional musician information, departmental student jury forms, and student equipment/instrument check out.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or higher in office administration or business administration preferred.
  • Strong computer skills, including data entry, spreadsheet, and word processing programs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Ability to learn new tasks quickly and to seek appropriate help and training when confronted with new tasks.

Working Conditions:

Work performed primarily in an office setting. While performing the duties of this job, employee regularly exhibits digital dexterity when entering data into computer, sits for extended periods of time, and occasionally stands and walks.

Salary and Benefits:

$33,000 per year, plus benefits including university contributions to health, dental, life, and disability insurance, tuition waivers for employees and their families, and retirement programs.
