The University of Georgia is seeking a Health Promotion Specialist - Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) to oversee program coordination and implementation of AOD prevention and other well-being/harm reduction initiatives.

Position Summary

The Health Promotion Specialist - AOD will be responsible for assessment, capacity building, planning, implementing, and evaluating activities associated with university prevention and well-being priorities. This position will train, direct, and supervise graduate interns and mentor a student peer educator group.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement, evaluate AOD prevention strategies, including implementing alcohol and drug education programming for students focused on harm reduction.
  • Provide targeted prevention education to specific student groups, including residence halls, fraternities and sororities, and athletics.
  • Serve as a Narcan master trainer and lead Narcan training for the campus community.
  • Coordinate, facilitate, and evaluate all on-campus alcohol education classes for student conduct referral programs.
  • Recruit, train, and oversee student employees.
  • Support development of Student Wellness peer education training programs.
  • Manage and deliver alcohol education programs.
  • Utilize data and outcomes to demonstrate progress toward Student Wellness goals and monitor trends of student behavior.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent and 2 years of professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a relevant field such as public health, health education, or related degree.
  • Relevant experience and demonstrated knowledge of alcohol and other substance misuse prevention and well-being best practices.
  • Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) or Master Certified Health Education Specialist (MCHES).
