Daikin Applied is seeking a Senior Designer . The Senior Designer will use computer-based tools to design parts and assemblies, create production drawings, and manage BOMs for small, medium, and large projects. The Senior Designer will also originate, develop, or modify product designs from conception to finished manufacturing documentation assuring quality, manufacturability, functionality, serviceability, and cost has been considered.
Location : Plymouth, MN or Staunton, VA – Onsite
What You Will Do
Create engineering documentation, including SolidWorks, modeling, fabrication, and purchase drawings that conform to Daikin standards
Apply tolerances and use GD&T tools to ensure designs meet functional and manufacturing requirements
Translate engineering/marketing intent into manufacturing documentation
Work with Marketing/Sales to provide documentation for original designs or custom modifications of current products to meet weekly production schedules
Exhibit a sense of design and mechanical aptitude with abstract thinking and reasoning skills
Demonstrate creative ability, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness
Complete work assignments within a determined time frame and use judgment in deciding assignment goals
Gain knowledge of design and manufacturing practices, processes, and Daikin products
Demonstrate an understanding of legacy bill of material systems and product structuring logic
Be part of and function in a team environment, including cross-functional and inter-departmental teams
Manage mid-level design projects
Review junior designers work and train other designers to perform their work

Minimum Qualifications
Vocational or Technical Degree or Associate’s degree in Design/Drafting
5 years of relevant experience
Experience with machinery component design and/or HVAC products
Advanced CAD proficiency, basic understanding of tolerances, materials, and manufacturing constraints
SolidWorks experience
Ability to create moderately complex parts and assemblies, interpreting technical specifications and applying GD&T
Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
Work visa sponsorship is not available for this position

Daikin Applied offers a competitive hourly pay rate ranging from $31.73-56.35. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
