The Medical Writer position is ideal for recent graduates in the sciences and those with experience in scientific research who are seeking to apply their scientific, writing and creative skills to real-world projects. You will be based in our Boston office and join a growing team of medical communications professionals. The role provides opportunities to shape and drive our US company, supported by the success of our operations in the UK and Asia-Pacific. You will work closely with our Scientific Director, our US Medical Communications Lead in Boston, and other senior colleagues in the US and globally.

Medical communications projects emphasize educating and informing clinical decision making and patient care, and provide opportunities to develop strong relationships with clients, academics and healthcare professionals. As a Medical Writer on the Medical Communications team, you will work on both Medical Affairs and Publications projects.

Responsibilities

• Work on Medical Affairs projects that bridge clinical development and commercial functions, with a patient and/or healthcare professional focus to educate and inform clinical decision making and patient care. Contribute to activities such as medical education events, advisory boards and medical information materials.

• Work on Publications projects, including abstracts and peer‑reviewed manuscripts, posters and oral presentations for large international congresses, and strategic publications planning. Collaborate with clients and opinion leaders to communicate key scientific and clinical data to healthcare professionals, policy makers and patients.

• Participate in additional project types if desired, including systematic literature reviews, meta-analyses, real‑world evidence studies and value dossiers.

• Join project teams with experienced colleagues who provide one‑to‑one training in technical aspects of the role. Collaborate with clients and external experts, with increasing participation in teleconferences and face‑to‑face meetings. Manage multiple projects across different disease areas and travel as needed for events.

• Opportunities for on-site support at events and potential international travel.

• Entry-level roles are available, with opportunities to progress into more senior roles involving greater project management and client responsibility.

Qualifications

We are looking for collaborative, self-motivated individuals with a passion for scientific writing and a strong service mindset.

  • A bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline (minimum GPA 3.3). Diverse educational backgrounds are welcome, particularly with coursework in the life sciences.
  • Excellent written and spoken fluency in English. Fluency in Portuguese or Spanish is a plus; please highlight this in your application.
  • Ability to communicate scientific materials clearly in written and oral form.
  • Strong understanding of scientific concepts and attention to detail.
  • Experience with scientific writing (e.g., dissertations, research summaries, lab reports, posters, manuscripts, literature reviews, grant applications, regulatory documents, or articles).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage time and meet deadlines.

No previous experience in this sector is required, but a genuine interest in healthcare and willingness to learn are important. Higher-level qualifications are welcome but not required.
