The Instructional Design Specialist plays a key role in the design, development, and continuous improvement of instructional content for the Flight Operations department related to pilot training. This position collaborates with Training Managers, Instructors, Evaluators, and AQP SMEs to deliver optimal training for Flight Operations learners, with emphasis on training center students and attendees. The role also ensures compliance with FAA regulatory requirements pertaining to pilot training.
Responsibilities Design and develop instructional materials including instructor guides, syllabi, learning objectives documents, facilitator/participant guides, job aids, and other resources.
Create engaging training materials for delivery methods such as instructor‑led training, computer‑based training modules, and storyboards.
Review and interpret FARs, company policies, and CBAs; apply guidance to instructional design for AQP.
Analyze multiple data sources to determine training program effectiveness; summarize results in formal reports and establish KPIs to track training impact via qualitative and quantitative data.
Maintain formal documentation of government and corporate programs, electronic PADB, and training recording/certification systems.
Serve as an SME on adult learning theory, instructional methods, and compliance to produce analysis reports, design documents, curriculum outlines, instructor courseware, and regulatory documentation.
Collaborate with stakeholders at all leadership levels to ensure pilot training programs are effective, compliant, and aligned with safety and operational objectives, FARs, and CBAs; contribute to development of new training concepts using ISD methodologies.
Support internal and external audits; understand PADB and training recording/certification systems to identify skills gaps and training needs.
Develop and convert SME content into learning objects across ADDIE phases (Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, Evaluate).
Ensure timely transmission of data/content as per implementation plans; practice safety-conscious behaviors in all processes.
Maintain working knowledge of CRM/TEM, FAA regulations, Advisory Circulars, ICAO, and other international standards.
Perform duties as assigned by the Senior Manager, AQP or other senior Training staff.
Qualifications Four (4) year degree in Education, Instructional Design, Aviation or equivalent work experience required.
Minimum of two (2) years of training-related work experience is a plus.
Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, Articulate360, and Microsoft Office 360 is required.
Practical experience using Instructional Systems Design (ISD) methodologies.
Practical experience with technical training subjects and compliance training is a plus.
Certifications from Instructional Design organizations or associations are preferred, including:
ATD CPLP/CPTD
ISPI CPT
PMP
ASQ CQA/CQIA/CQPA
AQP design and development experience is a plus.
Working knowledge of FARs and Advisory Circulars is a plus.
Special Demands Minimum 10% travel required

Salary Range: $70,500 - $83,000. Financial offer will be based on location, experience, and skillset.
