Job Summary The Medical Letter Writer is responsible for independently auditing, editing, composing, and processing adverse determination letters per regulatory standards. The Medical Letter Writer is also responsible for providing timely notification to providers and members. In addition, the Medical Letter Writer must ensure letters are generated and mailed with the required attachments, and that the authorizations are updated appropriately and processed in a timely, accurate, manner in compliance with performance measures regarding denial letter turnaround time and quality review standards. Essential Functions Write and edit medical letters and communications targeted to patients, caregivers, and medical professionals. Develop patient letters, medical reports, and discharge summaries with a focus on clarity and patient comprehension. Ensure all medical content is accurate, evidence-based, and adheres to relevant healthcare regulations and privacy laws. Collaborate with healthcare professionals, physicians, and specialists to gather information and insights for medical communications. Work closely with the communications team, marketing team, and medical staff to align messaging and objectives. Use data analytics and feedback to evaluate the effectiveness of medical communications materials. Performs other duties as assigned Complies with all policies and standards Qualifications Education Bachelor’s Degree in English preferred Experience At least 1-2 years of medical writing experience required At least 1-2 years of knowledge of utilization management processes, regulations, and standards (i.e. Health Center, Hospital, Insurance company, Physician office) Knowledge, Skills And Abilities In-depth knowledge of medical terminology, medical research, and healthcare practices. Understanding of healthcare regulations, privacy laws, and compliance considerations. Strong writing and editorial skills, with the ability to convey complex medical information in clear and accessible language. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in medical content creation. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and medical professionals. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
