Library Assistant II, Southeast Campus — Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR)

This position supports basic library operations and assists library patrons with their research and general library needs.

Responsibilities

  • Assist students with their research projects and be knowledgeable about databases, resources and basic information literacy components.
  • Monitor the open computer lab.
  • Coordinate interlibrary loans.
  • Assist in cataloging, purchasing, and processing.
  • Represent the library in New Student Orientations and other campus functions.
  • Perform activities related to the charging, discharging and late return of Library materials.
  • Manage circulation desk supplies and call patrons who have past due library materials.
  • Direct users with reference and research questions to public services librarians when appropriate.
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures.
  • Help check in books and supplies pursuant to College’s purchasing policy.
  • Check ownership on lists for potential purchases.
  • Assist with special projects and serve on committees as assigned.
  • Assist in planning Library initiatives and support the mission of the Library and the College.
  • Assist in stack inventory and management.
  • Participate in professional development activities.
  • Assist the Access Center with testing as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years’ customer service experience
  • Associate’s degree or higher
  • Two years’ experience working in a higher education setting
  • Multilingual, preferably in Spanish and/or Arabic
  • Experience with Banner

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills.
  • Aptitude for analyzing student questions and requests.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a varied community.
  • General knowledge of standard library policies and procedures.

Rate of Pay

$31,239.00 to $37,479.00 depending on experience
