Department of English and Comparative Literature Lecturer Pool 2025-2026

The Department of English and Comparative Literature at San Diego State University is accepting applications for their part-time lecturer pool. We welcome applications from prospective temporary faculty with expertise or experience in areas such as:

  • English and Comparative Literature
  • Children’s Literature
  • Creative Writing
  • Digital Humanities
  • Environmental Humanities
  • LGBTQ+ Studies
  • Related fields

Temporary appointments may be full- or part-time, often made just prior to the start of the academic term. The academic year is divided into Fall (mid-August to late December) and Spring (mid-January to mid-May), with potential Summer opportunities. Initial appointments are usually for one semester or year, renewable based on performance and availability. Applications remain in the pool during the academic year.

Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in literature, cultural studies, or related fields
  • Demonstrated currency in subject matter

Initial rank and salary depend on experience and education, typically at Lecturer A or B level. As of July 2024, salary ranges are:

  • Lecturer A: $5,507 - $6,677
  • Lecturer B: $6,221 - $13,224
