Job Description: As a Vehicle Motion Controls Platform Software Design Engineer, you will design and implement advanced control and estimation algorithms for vehicle motion systems, including steering, braking, propulsion, rear steering, and active aerodynamics. You will work on model-based design, simulation, and algorithm development to support the design of robust, modular, and high-performance control systems. This role emphasizes strong control theory and estimation expertise and is open to candidates from robotics, aerospace, or related domains with proven technical ability in controls, estimation, or mechatronics. This position is ideal for engineers who want to apply deep technical knowledge in vehicle motion systems and contribute to innovative solutions while growing their experience in automotive vehicle dynamics.

What You’ll do:

  • Design and implement vehicle motion control and estimation algorithms across multiple domains.
  • Apply model-based design and simulation workflows to develop and validate control and estimation strategies.
  • Support integration and testing in simulation environments (CarSim, CarMaker, Simulink) and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) setups.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and deliver technical documentation, reports, and presentations.
  • Participate in design reviews and contribute to process improvements and technical innovation.

Core Expertise Areas:

  • Control Strategy:
    • Solid foundation in classical control methods (PID, state feedback, observers).
    • Knowledge and experience with advanced control strategies such as adaptive control, model predictive control (MPC), learning-based MPC, and ML/AI-based control approaches.
  • Estimation and Fusion:
    • Strong knowledge of state estimation and observer design.
    • Experience with sensor fusion methods, including Kalman filter variations (EKF, UKF, particle filters).
    • Understanding of system identification and parameter estimation in dynamic systems.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

  • MSc or PhD in Controls, Robotics, Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering with relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver clear technical reports and presentations.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license for occasional test support.

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Skills):

  • Experience writing and understanding software/hardware requirements and interfaces, with exposure to tools such as DOORS, DNG, JAMA, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with automotive product release and specification processes.
  • Knowledge of related automotive systems (powertrain, driveline, CAN/LIN networks).
  • Experience with advanced test setups (dSPACE HiL, DiL) and/or in-vehicle track testing.
