Job Summary

This newsroom position requires the ability to develop good enterprise stories, establish and maintain contacts, and manage multi-platform content responsibilities. Web, graphic design, and social media skills are essential. The ideal candidate should be able to combine originality, functionality, and technology to produce eye-catching and informative content. Strong writing, organization, and attention to detail are central to the success of this position. You will interact with newsroom personnel to present dynamic and focused newscasts.

Responsibilities

• Utilize software and design tools to create online content, including banner advertisements, artwork, social media graphics, and interactive web content.
• Log and identify compelling video and soundbites.
• Write and post copy daily on all digital platforms, including WIFR.com, as new information is learned.
• Understand and adhere to AP Style (for digital platforms) and broadcast writing (for television).
• Display solid news judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to write clearly and concisely.
• Meet deadlines and multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Must be available to work evenings and weekends.
• Preferred or current pursuit of a degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field; internship or related experience is a plus.
• Must have a responsible social media presence.
• Must have a desire to win, the ability to reflect on work, and the capacity to apply feedback.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and a good driving record.

Salary

$18.00/hr.

Shift and Schedule

Schedule determined based on the needs of the station.
