Senior Manager, User Experience Research

We’re looking for a collaborative and strategic Senior Manager, User Experience Research to oversee research execution across multiple divisions—from project initiation through design and development—and lead a team of User Experience Researchers. You will shape research strategy and lead the integration of human-centered design across divisions.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage, mentor, and develop a team of UX researchers across multiple product categories and projects.
  • Assign researchers to initiatives based on strengths, development goals, and business needs.
  • Provide feedback, set clear goals, and support ongoing growth through coaching and career planning.
  • Define, communicate, and drive a long‑term research vision & roadmap that aligns with the organization’s broader strategy, product goals, and market trends.
  • Develop strategic thinking within the team: coach researchers to think beyond individual studies to how research contributes to business outcomes, future product opportunities, and long‑term learning.
  • Guide and support research approach selection, study design, synthesis, and storytelling to ensure high-impact, actionable insights.
  • Translate research insights into strategic frameworks, decision support tools, design principles, and innovation opportunities that are scalable and forward‑looking.
  • Collaborate closely with senior leadership (Product, Design, R&D, Engineering, Marketing, CSI) to ensure research is embedded in strategic planning, product roadmaps, and go‑to‑market decisions.
  • Prioritize research efforts across the product portfolio to balance short‑term deliverables and long‑term strategic investment in consumer understanding, UX excellence, and innovation.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Minimum Master’s or PhD degree in Human Factors Engineering, Cognitive Psychology, Ergonomics/Anthropometrics or related field.
  • Work Experience: 12+ years of post graduate experience in UX research (corporate or consultancy), working across both physical and digital products.
  • Management: 3+ years in leadership or management roles, including managing people, defining research strategy, and leading high-visibility projects.
  • Product Experience: Strong track record of delivering actionable research across physical and digital products.
  • Human Factors & Ergonomics: Ability to apply anthropometric, usability, and ergonomic principles, especially in physical product domains.
  • Research Excellence: Expertise in both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies; proficient in advanced techniques (ethnography, physiological testing, behavioral analytics, etc.).
  • Strategic Vision & Thinking: Able to create, communicate, and execute on long‑term research vision; anticipate trends; align research objectives with business strategy.
  • Storytelling & Communication: Powerful ability to present complex findings, influence senior leadership, and craft narratives that tie user insights to business impact.
  • Leadership & Team Development: Proven experience mentoring, coaching, enabling researchers to level up; developing leadership in others; managing through ambiguity.
  • Operational Excellence: Skilled at managing resources, optimizing processes, tool selection, and maintaining consistent quality across a portfolio of studies.
  • Collaboration & Influence: Strong with stakeholder management across functions and levels; ability to build trust, influence decisions, and negotiate trade‑offs.
  • Project & Program Management: Able to manage multiple large, complex research programs concurrently, prioritize effectively, maintain quality and timeliness.
  • Soft Skills: High emotional intelligence, strong judgment under uncertainty, ability to navigate ambiguity, resiliency, adaptability.
  • Travel: Ability to occasionally travel and work internationally.
