Job Title: Intermediate Web Developer
Clearance Required: Public Trust, US Citizen.
Work Location: Remote; Silver Spring, MD Alpha Omega is seeking a qualified Web Developer. The developer will serve as the primary front-end designer, with major responsibilities including building and developing websites, collaborating with stakeholders, and working with multiple IT teams to ensure project success. Web development work focused on enhancing customer experience, usability, and performance of the migration of local historical NOAA websites by implementing best practice UX/UI design, interpreting and displaying scientific information for a wide audience, and improving technical aspects of site performance through cloud migration using primarily migration to the cloud, mainly using Microsoft .NET Framework technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Primary responsibilities include supporting, designing, building, and maintaining efficient, reusable, and reliable websites using Microsoft .NET Framework technologies.
- Write efficient code and maintain code quality, organization, documentation, and automatization.
- Create and maintain IIS websites using standard HTML/CSS best practices.
- Support and troubleshoot various web user application issues.
- Work with stakeholders to gather requirements and meet project deliverables and milestones to produce quality websites
- Work with IT security staff and communications professionals to meet yearly web certifications and implement security updates as required.
- Regularly communicate with stakeholders and colleagues to develop and deploy requested content, ensuring clear establishment of what can be created within the specified timeframe.
- Consult with stakeholders and communications professionals to determine the scope of content, integrate new features as requested, provide recommendations based on performance metrics, and ensure branding compliance for front-facing websites.
- Research different software programs and maintain software documentation.
- Improve website user experience through Human Centered Design (HCD) and analytics-informed performance enhancements
- Identify bottlenecks and bugs, and devise solutions to these issues
- Provide analytics-based performance reports to identify performance and usability issues and make recommendations for improvement.
Experience/Skills
Required Qualifications:
- Ability to obtain a US Public Trust Clearance
- 5+ years of experience in web development using Microsoft .NET Framework technologies
- 3+ years of experience directly supporting application and user issues, working with stakeholders in requirements gathering, design, and coordination
- Proficient with Microsoft C# .NET Framework technologies, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Experience with cloud technologies, cloud-based website development, and local > cloud website migration.
- Familiarity with Google and Bing search and site performance tools such as Bing Search, Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Google PageSpeed Insights, and Google Tag Manager
- Proficient with graphic design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress, PHP, and Amazon Web Services technologies, a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of OAR lab and line office scientific activities, OAR & NOAA strategic goals, and NOAA science and technology focus areas
- Proficient understanding of code versioning tools (Git Hub)
- Familiar with Visual Studio 2017
- Familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server 2022 and SQL scripts, experience with older versions accepted
- Familiarity with Microsoft SQL Integration Services
Salary And Benefit Information
The likely salary range for this position is $88,000 - $105,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position and could fall outside of this range.
