HNTB is hiring: Design Build - Sr Bridge Design Manager in Midvale

Overview

Sr Bridge Design Manager with demonstrated experience on fast-paced Design Build (DB) infrastructure projects. This role is a key member of project leadership teams, responsible for achieving quality work, on time delivery, on budget, and client satisfaction.

What You’ll Do

• Responsible for development of the project scope and fee quotation and assists in the preparation of technical proposals and contracts in accordance with HNTB's Sophisticated Contracting Approach (SCA).
• Serve as the primary client liaison and manage the project team to deliver the scope, schedule, and budgets to completion and to the client’s satisfaction. Lead client contract scoping and negotiations.
• Perform technical discipline tasks including analysis, reports, design, specification, and production for assigned projects.
• Implement the firm’s project delivery plan using HNTB's Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SDA) on each project. Lead the development and execution of the project management plan. Supervise and mentor the team to achieve overall project objectives.
• Responsible for/oversee project staffing, including recruitment, development, retention and succession of project staff; develop plans for project staff reporting; support for performance and compensation reviews.
• Partner with Client Service Leaders and pursuit champions to assist with business development, building client relationships, and pursuit efforts for mega and super mega projects in accordance with HNTB's Sophisticated Sales Approach (SSA). Lead proposal development and interview presentations for strategic, mini-mega or mega projects and prepare materials for industry and community presentations.
• May be responsible for recruiting, hiring, development and retention of staff, including development of plans for staff reporting, performance and compensation reviews, and succession.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Need

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 12 years of relevant experience
• 4 years of successful management of engineering projects

What You’ll Bring

• Excellent technical knowledge and quality work in multidisciplinary projects, including consideration of design decisions on cost, fabrication, and construction of bridges and other transportation structures.
• Winning, contracting, and delivering 4for4 (on-time, on-budget, quality, client satisfaction) on multi-disciplinary or large/complex projects; identifying and handling risk and change management independently.
• Leading large teams inside and outside of HNTB using sub-consultants.
• Using system tools to manage, monitor, and deliver complex projects.
• Leading HNTB Sophisticated processes as applicable to the project.
• Serving as the lead interface with the client.
• Deploying talent to other projects and developing successors to work with the same client on other work.

What We Prefer

• Master’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
• 15 years experience in design of California bridges and other transportation structures
• Proficiency in seismic design and detailing of bridges in California on highway, transit and high-speed rail structures
• Experience in managing Design Support During Construction (DSDC) phase of bridge projects
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in California
