We are a five-generation, family-owned daily newspaper in Northeast Nebraska seeking a dynamic and visionary Advertising Director to lead our Retail, Classified and Digital Sales Team. This role is ideal for a strategic leader who thrives on collaboration, innovation, and results. You’ll drive revenue, mentor talent, and shape the future of local media all while enjoying the charm and quality of life that comes with living in Norfolk, Nebraska, a vibrant community known for its friendly atmosphere, affordable living, and easy access to outdoor recreation.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee daily operations and performance of all advertising sales, including sales, digital, classified, and support.
Lead the sale, production, and servicing of all advertising formats: ROP, Classified, Legal, and National in print and online.
Recruit, train, and manage department staff, fostering a culture of growth and accountability.
Develop and execute sales strategies, promotions, and content initiatives to meet revenue targets.
Maintain strong client relationships through regular meetings and collaborative problem-solving.
Manage advertising contracts and work with national rep firms to expand reach.
Monitor departmental expenses and ensure financial efficiency.
Stay current with industry trends, tools, and technologiesincluding social media and mobile platforms. Represent the company at industry events and community sponsorships.
Facilitate weekly sales meetings and cross-training opportunities.
Support disaster planning and remote work capabilities.
Qualifications:
Proven leadership in advertising or media sales.
Strong managerial and interpersonal skills.
Experience in marketing, sales, or newspaper advertising preferred.
Proficiency in Excel and comfort with digital tools and platforms.
Ability to travel for meetings and industry events.
