Overview

The Havener Eye Institute, Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at The Ohio State University, is seeking a Neuro Ophthalmologist to join the Department on an academic rank/track commensurate with academic record and experience. This is a full-time clinical Neuro Ophthalmologist position with duties in patient care, research, and education at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.

Position Details

Location: The Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical Neuro Ophthalmology services, with or without a trainee present.
  • Engage in academic activities including teaching (clinical or didactic) for medical students, residents, fellows, graduate students, and post-doctoral trainees.
  • Participate in research, quality improvement initiatives, curriculum development, and other activities aligned with faculty assignment.
  • Contribute to service commitments at OSUWMC facilities and other assigned clinical sites.
  • Participate in divisional, departmental, and college committees; engage with local, regional, or national professional organizations as appropriate.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • MD, DO, or equivalent degree; completed residency in Ophthalmology with a fellowship in Neuro-Ophthalmology or Neurology, plus relevant Neuro-Ophthalmology training.
  • Board-eligible or board-certified in Ophthalmology.
  • Eligible for licensure in the State of Ohio.
  • U.S. citizenship is required for participation due to contractual agreements with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in medical and surgical management of Neuro Ophthalmology.
  • Demonstrated interest in scholarship with evidence of basic and/or clinical research and publications.
  • Commitment to residents, fellows, and medical students.

Faculty Defined

  • Clinical faculty (regardless of rank) – Titles include assistant professor-clinical, associate professor-clinical, and professor-clinical. Clinicians focus on delivering exemplary clinical care and may include teaching and/or research. Not eligible for tenure and appointed for terms of three to five years, with possible reappointment.
  • Tenure-Track faculty (regardless of rank) – Titles include assistant/associate professor or professor. Primary focus on research, service, and teaching, with possible clinical involvement for MD/DO holders.
  • Research Faculty (regardless of rank) – Titles include research assistant professor, research associate professor, or research professor. Not eligible for tenure; primary focus is research.
