This role blends recruitment and literary scouting: you’ll identify and evaluate writers who can craft addictive, mobile-first stories that hook audiences in under 90 seconds. It’s a high-impact role in a fast-moving, scaling environment — ideal for someone who thrives in a “building as we go” culture. About DramaBox DramaBox is a global leader in vertical drama production, pioneering a new storytelling format for the digital age. Already a top app internationally, DramaBox is rapidly expanding in the U.S. to become a dominant force in mobile-first entertainment. Key Responsibilities Scout and recruit contract screenwriters with vertical drama experience or transferable skills in serialized, emotionally driven storytelling. Review and assess scripts, writing samples, and pitches to gauge their fit for vertical mini-drama formats (structure, pacing, cliffhangers, emotional hooks). Build and maintain relationships with writers, literary managers, and agencies to source top creative talent. Develop connections with top screenwriting programs (UCLA, USC, AFI, NYU, etc.) to identify and engage emerging writers. Collaborate with DramaBox’s development team to match writer assignments within a wide range of genres. Attend industry events, writer showcases, and creative markets to uncover new voices. Act as a brand ambassador for DramaBox in the creative community, communicating our mission and unique storytelling model. Occasionally support corporate or departmental recruiting needs in collaboration with HR and team leads. Qualifications 3–5 years of experience in a talent agency, literary agency, studio, or production company, with exposure to writer representation, story evaluation, or development. Strong background in script evaluation with the ability to gauge a writer’s potential in shaping story, structure, dialogue, and character development — particularly in fast-moving, serialized formats. Growing network across the writer and literary representation landscape, with the ability to expand relationships quickly. Understanding of short-form, genre-driven storytelling and how it translates into mobile-first, vertical formats. Experience or transferable skills in general recruitment (e.g., sourcing, interviewing, or on-boarding creative professionals). Excellent communication and relationship-building skills. Passion for mobile-first storytelling and curiosity about new narrative forms. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment where new processes are still being built and adaptability is key. Mandarin language skills are a plus, given DramaBox’s international footprint. Why Join Us Shape the talent pipeline for one of the fastest-growing entertainment platforms in the world. Discover and champion emerging writers in a new, global storytelling format. Collaborate with development, production, and international teams to bring bold new voices to screen.
