Overview Senior Technical Writer — Full-time onsite. The company is an industry-leading, global provider of continuous emission monitoring systems. Location: San Diego, CA. Base pay range: $90,000.00/yr - $100,000.00/yr. Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm. Direct Hire. Company is ITAR compliant — US Citizens or Permanent Residents required. Background check and drug screen required.

Responsibilities Research, create, and edit operational, instructional, maintenance, and test procedural documents in accordance with internal guidelines and industry standards.
Conduct interviews with and observe work performed by users, technical staff, and production staff to gather data for documentation.
Gather photographs and other media to enhance and clarify documents.
Translate technical information into manuals and documents for nontechnical and technical users.
Audit processes and specifications as needed.
Produce work products that conform to company documentation and quality assurance standards.
Prepare documents using Microsoft Office products (MS Word, etc.).
Document a diverse scope and coordinate reviews and approvals with subject matter experts prior to release.
Interact with internal and external personnel at all levels.
Perform housekeeping and other duties as required.
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and 10-15 years of directly related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
10 years’ hands-on experience researching, creating, and editing manufacturing/test procedures, user manuals, and other technical documentation.
Experience creating a 50-100 page User Manual from start to finish.
Extensive manufacturing background with technical products, preferably consumer electronics or medical devices.
Expert experience with MS Word (advanced formatting, styles, table of contents) and knowledge of Adobe Illustrator.
ERP knowledge/experience; experience with IFS preferred.

Professional communication with stakeholders at all levels.
Strong mechanical aptitude and good computer skills, especially MS Word; ability to work with ERP systems.
Self-starter who can work effectively with limited supervision.
