Hanger Law is hiring: Associate Attorney (Newport News office) in Newport News

Hanger Law, a growing general practice law firm, is seeking a dedicated Associate Attorney to join our team. The ideal candidate will have some experience in real estate transactions and general civil practice, with strong legal writing and client-service skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct client consultations and intake, providing professional legal guidance.

• Handle real estate purchase and listing transactions, including contract review, title analysis, closings, and related negotiations.

• Draft and review legal documents, including deeds, contracts, motions, pleadings, and petitions.

• Represent clients in court hearings, mediations, and other proceedings as needed.

• Perform legal research and develop case strategies under the supervision of senior attorneys.

• Manage case files, track deadlines, and ensure compliance with court and statutory requirements.

• Assist with billing, invoicing, collections, and general practice management.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

• Licensed to practice in Virginia.

• 1–3 years of experience in real estate, litigation, or general practice preferred.

• Strong legal research, drafting, and oral advocacy skills.

• Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple matters.
