As a writer for FranklinIs.com, you'll develop and research story ideas and turn them into entertaining, accurate and well-written news or featured articles. The writer will be responsible for managing and producing content that aligns with the brand's mission and vision. The writer is also responsible for the oversight of content accuracy, grammar, and relevance.

Key Activities

• 2 to 3 new articles with imagery weekly based on approved ideas or assignments from the editor relevant to current season, events, activities, holidays.
• Post all articles and content on social accounts.
• Manage and produce weekly social media caption posts.
• Manage, create and distribute the monthly newsletter.
• Curate articles, work with internal design team for media and graphics, etc.
• Review, identify and suggest edit improvements on old content throughout the website.
• Manage and keep current online guides such as Shopping, Dining, Festivals, Summer Camps, etc.
• Attend events or activities as assigned. Write an article on each of these events.
• Keep up to date with trends and developments relating to the websites subject matter and market.
• Create impactful content for site visitors.
• Research, brainstorm, and pitch creative and compelling article topics.
• Fact-check, proofread and edit story and website content for accuracy and comprehensiveness.
• Work with our internal teams to obtain needed graphics or assistance.
• Research the SEO-value of keyword sets for strategic implementation within all written materials.
• Manage timelines as provided by Editor.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, creative writing, English, or a related field from a regionally accredited college or university or equal experience.
• Two years of creative, editorial, or news-writing experience.
• Knowledge and experience working with magazines
• Attention to detail and deadlines.
• Ability to balance writing and editing workload in a fast-paced environment.
• Effective time management and organizational skills, including working on multiple projects simultaneously.
• Demonstrated ability to work with others.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to establish an editorial calendar.
• Experience working with design staff.
• Photography experience helpful.
