Our client is looking for an Assistant Home Designer to join their team in NYC! Support the lead designer in coordinating daily design and development tasks. Handle vendor communications, track and organize samples, and maintain project documentation. Create and update CAD designs and design briefs for new product development. Maintain organized archives of samples, references, and seasonal projects. Develop design concepts that are innovative, brand-right, and aligned with home textile trends. Present design ideas to sales, product, and buying teams, incorporating feedback into final assortments. Partner with Buyers to build cohesive seasonal assortments that balance core needs with fresh, trend-driven product. Participate in follow-up meetings and manage shifting priorities effectively. Collaborate closely with sales, production, and design teams to ensure seamless product execution. Research global and domestic markets for new materials, techniques, and design inspiration. Contribute seasonal product and trend research to the Design Director. Assist in seasonal concept presentations with the design team for internal and cross-functional partners. Strong technical understanding of home textiles, including construction, fabrications, and finishes. Knowledge of artwork repeats, color separations, embellishments, embroidery, and stitching techniques. Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator; CAD knowledge is beneficial. Strong aesthetic sense and awareness of home and lifestyle design trends. Collaborative mindset with the ability to design customer-focused product solutions. Strong research skills for trends, colors, and materials. Clear communication and teamwork skills to liaise with Buying, Production, and Design teams. Bachelor’s degree in Textile Design or related field. Proficiency in CAD programs and design software. Comfortable with digital tools, email, and project tracking. Experience managing seasonal line plans and supporting product development cycles.
